The city of New Orleans today drops most of its remaining coronavirus restrictions. It comes a little more than a year after the city first emerged from lockdown into Phase One, then see-sawed between phases as cases grew and shrank.
Now most capacity limits are falling by the wayside as more New Orleanians get all their required shots.
"It feels great to have demonstrated-- our people, who have demonstrated civic trust, that has gotten us literally to where we are today," Mayor LaToya Cantrell told WWL-TV. "As we've moved through this pandemic, we've been on the forefront of it, from being that 'hot-spot,' flattening that curve, beating it back, three times."
Now bars can stay open past 1:00 a.m., live entertainment can return, even parades and second lines can get permits.
