A Thibodaux man is dead after he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle.
The crash happened around 7 a.m. Saturday on LA 308 near Lasseign Road near Thibodaux.
According to state troopers, Melvin Mead, Jr., 70, was trying to cross the highway from a parking lot when he pedaled into the path of an oncoming car. The car then hit Mead, who died at the scene.
Troopers say the driver of the car was not injured. They also say the driver was not impaired and is cooperating with the investigation, which is ongoing.
