Bitter cold temps didn't stop the party on the parade route

It was the kind of cold that makes you question every life choice and yet, parade routes across the metro were still packed this weekend.

Despite bitter temperatures and gusty winds, plenty of revelers bundled up and showed out, proving once again that Mardi Gras doesn’t melt easily.

Many people we spoke with said their plans were locked in long before the cold snap arrived. Some traveled to New Orleans specifically for this stretch of Carnival and weren’t about to let freezing weather change that.

Others pointed to something less logical and far more powerful. It’s Mardi Gras!  And for many, missing it simply isn’t an option, no matter what the thermometer says.

When asked if they’d keep coming back to the route if cold weather sticks around for the rest of the season, reactions were mixed. Some said they’d layer up and keep it moving. Others admitted there’s a limit  even for the most dedicated Carnival fans.

The good news? Relief appears to be on the way. Forecasts show much warmer temperatures for next weekend’s parades, giving revelers a chance to thaw out as Carnival rolls on.

Because if there’s one thing more predictable than Louisiana weather  it’s that Mardi Gras always finds a way.
