The board that oversees New Orleans' 911 system meets at 10 a.m. today, as city council leaders urge them to release the report on an internal investigation into the 911 system's director.

"I do believe that it is appropriate to suspend him," said New Orleans City council vice president Helena Moreno. Moreno said the Orleans Parish Communications District board will be left with no choice, if an internal investigation corroborates allegations that OPCD Director Tyrell Morris altered public records after being involved in a car crash to get out of having the incident being reported to NOPD.

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell has resisted calls to suspend Morris but said she'll stand by whatever the OPCD board decides.

"I'll continue to lean on them as I have since day one," said Cantrell. "I'm going to continue to lean on the experts like I've done every single day."

Moreno says the job is too important to be left to someone dealing with this kind of a distraction.

"We need someone who is going to treat this like a full time job, with all of their attention on making sure that 9-1-1 calls are being answered appropriately."

OPCD will discuss their internal investigation in an executive session.
