Would you brave the water of French Quarter puddles if it meant averting a fiery disaster?
A few parade-goers did just that during the Joan of Arc Parade last weekend when an NOPD motorcycle suddenly burst into flames.
The incident occurred on Chartres Street near St.
Phillip Street. One of the motorcycles leading the parade ignited.
That’s when a few helpy helpertons in attendance sprang into action.
Forming a makeshift “bucket brigade,” people started trying to douse the flames with whatever drinks they had handy and by scooping up water from nearby puddles.
The fire was finally put out when another bystander showed up with an actual fire extinguisher.
Video of the incident, which served as an explosive start to Carnival Season, has gone viral on Facebook
