New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell withdrew her request for permission from federal court to take a vacation in Iceland, NOLA.com reports.

The mayor last week submitted the request to join family members on the personal trip.

Cantrell must get the court's permission for travel out of the country ahead of her trial scheduled for next year on federal corruption charges.

Cantrell's withdrawal comes even though the pretrial services officer and U.S. Attorney's Office did not raise any objections to her being out of the U.S. for a week next month.

Cantrell is under federal criminal indictment on charges she and her former NOPD bodyguard, Jeffrey Vappie, lied in order to make it look like Vappie was on official business when accompanying her on trips to places like Martha's Vineyard, Napa valley, and Scotland. Prosecutor say Vappie's business with the mayor on those trips was not business, but was part of a personal, intimate affair the two were having.

Cantrell and Vappie deny having an affair.
