We're learning new details about Thursday's shooting on the Crescent City Connection. Police say the victim has now died. They also say they do not believe the shooting is a case of road rage. However, investigators implied the shooting may have been targeted.
The shooting happened around 12:45 p.m. on the westbound span just past the Tchoupitoulas Street exit ramp. According to the major offense log, the victim was in a car traveling along Business U. S. 90 when another car pulled next. That's when, the report says, someone in the second car began shooting at the victim.
Police say someone drove the victim to a hospital. He was later transferred to a second hospital, where police say he died.
Police later stated that the victim was a passenger in the car that was struck by the gunfire. Two other people inside that car were not injured.
Investigators say the suspect's vehicle is a sedan, but they did not say what type of sedan it was. Police also do not know how many people were in the suspect's vehicle.
