One change to accommodate Superdome renovation may become permanent

The Saints have a home game this weekend, but it is in London. They will be back in the Superdome October 9 versus the Seahawks.

The entry procedures set up this season to accommodate the Superdome renovations are going so well, stadium officials are considering keeping it.  Tickets are checked as fans enter the campus, not the building.

Doug Thornton, Executive Vice President for ASM Global, the company that manages Caesars Superdome, says the work inside forced them to scan tickets outside the stadium, something they have never done before.

"This is the first time we've operated in this configuration in the history of the building, and we knew going in to the football season it was going to be a challenge," said Thornton. "We processed 50, what, 40, 42,000 people through Gate C and Gate A, I think it was over half of our crowd. There was never a wait time that was probably over three minutes?"

He said that was far better than most of the rest of the league.

"The average wait time in the NFL is seven minutes to get through a security screening point and ticket scan," said Thornton. "So we did it in well under the NFL average."

Thornton said they're considering making this setup permanent.

"It was a big change and it was such a big change and it was  so well coordinated that I think we may just stick with that, you know, in the future."
