The Crescent City is kicking off "Holidays New Orleans Style," and it means tourism is picking up speed.
New Orleans has been a good holiday destination for years now, with the Bayou Classic on Thanksgiving weekend, then Christmas celebrations, including the Children's Hospital holiday parade with giant balloons.
Kelly Schulz with New Orleans & Company says it just keeps building momentum.
"And then we go right into New Year's Eve, the College Football Playoff, we kick off Carnival season, we have some big conventions, and then, of course, the Super Bowl on February 9th, and Mardi Gras day March 4th," she said.
The city will set the table for Super Bowl LIX by hosting a quarterfinal game of the College Football Playoff on New Year's Day in the Sugar Bowl.
"We have Sugar Bowl ever year," Schulz said. "This year, it's the College Football Playoffs; that takes place January 1. Of course, many people come to New Orleans to celebrate New Year's Eve."
She says the city's hospitality business is looking forward to a busy winter, taking them right into the spring festival season.
