The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office today announced the arrest of a Folsom man in the rape of a pair of girls in Loranger.

"Dakota Anderson, 24, was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail," Public Information Officer Ashley Rodrigue said in a news release.

She says it follows the victims coming forward to tell police about the sexual assaults over the summer.

"TPSO was recently notified about allegations that Anderson raped a 17-year-old girl back in June, and a week later, raped a 16-year-old girl. The crimes reportedly occurred at the same home in Loranger where one of the victims lives."

Rodrigue says the victims are friends.

"Anderson was a friend of one of the victims’ relatives and both girls reported being afraid to initially reveal the assaults before now."

Detectives investigated the claims and secured a warrant for Anderson’s arrest.

"Sheriff Gerald Sticker encourages any victims of violence, especially children, to report these crimes to our office for investigation. Our Criminal Investigations Division can be reached at 985-902-2008 or, as always, in the case of an emergency, call 911."
