Police say they caught a kid with a firearm and narcotics at school.
"The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) has arrested a Hammond teenager for bringing a gun and drugs to school," Public Information Officer Ashley Rodrigue said in a news release.
The teen is now facing multiple charges.
"The 16-year-old male has been arrested on one count each of Carrying of a Firearm by a Student on School Property, Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Juvenile, Possession of a Firearm While in Possession of Schedule II Narcotics, and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Drug Free Zone."
Rodrigue says it happened Tuesday.
"TPSO School Resource Officers (SROs) at Hammond High School were made aware of suspicious circumstances involving a student’s vehicle in the parking lot. That student was removed from class to confirm it was his vehicle. Following a search of the vehicle, a gun and pills were located inside. The student was then placed under arrest."
