New Orleans Police say two children they initially thought were victims of a shooting were actually shot trying to rob someone in Gentilly Sunday afternoon.
"Through investigation, the juveniles found to have sustained gunshot wounds in this incident are believed to be the perpetrators of an attempted armed robbery at the location," NOPD said in a news release.
They earlier reported it as a shooting just before 4:00pm in the 4900 block of Eastern Street.
"Initial reports show two juvenile males sustained gunshot wounds in this incident."
Insteady of victims, they are now listed as suspects.
"The subjects have been apprehended."
They were being treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Police did not release information about the armed robbery victim who shot them.
