
There are 150 days left in the LaToya Cantrell administration in New Orleans, and voters are less than two months away from picking her successor.
Those candidates may be interested in courting Cantrell's supporters.
Even though recent polls show low approval ratings for New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, there are still voters who approve, and JMC Analytics pollster John Couvillon says no politician would ever turn a voter away.
"I would not be surprised to see the candidates make a subterranean pitch for her vote," he said. "Let's say one of them is adventurous enough to pursue that subterranean vote, that theoretically could make a difference."
Couvillon says there is a risk of that backfiring if it were made public, but he also says it could be a difference maker in a close race.
