New Orleans police investigate a fatal hit and run that happened Tuesday night on North Claiborne Avenue, near St. Bernard Avenue.
According to a police report, “At about 8:42 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to a call of a traffic accident at the location.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a bicycle and a male bicyclist down in the 1600 block of North Claiborne Avenue.
The initial investigation report says, “An unknown type vehicle hit the bicycle, causing the 45-year-old man to be ejected from the bicycle. The male driver of the bicycle was pronounced dead on the scene as a result of his injuries.”
The driver of the unidentified vehicle fled the scene.
The New Orleans Coroner’s Office will identify the man killed once an autopsy is complete.
