We're now in the meaty part of the crawfish season! The next few weeks may be the best time of year for them.
The Easter weekend demand has dropped off, and crawfish prices did, too
"Well, Easter Sunday passed, and do you know the very next day, crawfish prices dropped by 50 cents a pound," said Laney King, co-founder of the Crawfish App. "So that's great news. You can now get a sack of live crawfish for under three dollars a pound, which means it's going to be under a hundred bucks."
King said you can find boiled for around five to six dollars a pound.
King says demand -- and prices -- will likely pick up again around Mother's Day.
