A doctor punched a teen at a Northshore psychiatric facility, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's office says. Now that physician faces criminal charges.
"Deputies with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office were contacted Monday (April 7) evening by staff members at a Mandeville-area behavioral health facility in reference to an incident which occurred the night prior involving a 14-year-old patient," sheriff's office spokesperson Lt. Suzanne Carboni said in a news release.
"Staff members reported that while they were securing the juvenile, the doctor pushed him and struck him with a closed fist," said Carboni. "The juvenile was transported that night to a local hospital, where he was evaluated and released."
Carboni says 39-year-old Garrick Klaybor of New Orleans surrendered and faces one count of cruelty to the infirm.
