Double shooting in Marrero leaves one dead, one fighting for life

Two people were shot Saturday night on the Westbank of Jefferson Parish.

JPSO says it happened near Westwood Drive and Rue Louis Phillipe in Marrero.


Authorities said both victims were male and both had what were described as life threatening injuries.

The sheriff's office notified us shortly after 9:30pm.

This morning JPSO issued a news release saying one of the victims had died.

"Just after 8:00 pm, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Rue Louis Philippe and Westwood Drive regarding multiple reports of gunfire in the area. While responding to the area, deputies were flagged down in the 5100 block of Lapalco Blvd. At this location, deputies located a teenage male on the ground outside a business. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to the body. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. At approximately 8:20 pm, deputies were dispatched to an area hospital regarding a male who arrived by private vehicle with a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, deputies located the adult male suffering from a single gunshot wound. His condition was listed as critical."
