Cops say a 29-year-old man who crashed after speeding away from troopers trying to pull him over last month has died from injuries he suffered.
It all started around 1:30am on July 21st on the Westbank Expressway in Gretna.
Authorities today announced that Quentin Solete Jr. had died.
"The initial investigation revealed that Solete was traveling eastbound on the upper level of US 90B in a 1999 Chevrolet Camaro at a high rate of speed. Troopers attempted to stop Solete for a speeding violation, but quickly lost sight of his vehicle," Lt. Jared Sandifer said in a news release.
A short time later, police found the Camaro on Terry Parkway near US 90B.
"It had flipped several times and struck a light pole."
Sandifer says Solete was ejected from the vehicle.
"Earlier today, Troopers were notified by UMC staff that Solete succumbed to his injuries on August 10, 2024."
The lieutenant says crash remains under investigation.
