Two men are dead after family members pulled their bodies from the water Wednesday near the Lock One Navigational Canal near Pearl River, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office says.
"Emergency responders were dispatched to the area after receiving reports that two individuals were unresponsive after entering the water near the lock," said Lt. Suzanne Carboni with the sheriff's office. "Family members who were with the men pulled them from the water before deputies arrived."
Deputies began life-saving measures and paramedics took the two men to a local hospital, but both were pronounced dead.
The coroner's office will determine their exact cause of death.
The incident remains under investigation.
