A Florida man is sentenced to more than four years in prison after Louisiana State Troopers find kilos of cocaine following a traffic stop on the northshore.
According to the Department of Justice, on September 25, 2019, a Louisiana State Police Trooper pulled over Kennie Santos-Payano, 26, for a traffic violation as he was driving eastbound on I-12 near Madisonville in St. Tammany Parish.
A drug-searching K-9 alerted troopers to narcotics inside the car. Troopers searched Santos-Payano’s vehicle and found eight and a half kilograms of cocaine.
Santos-Payano was arrested and eventually was convicted and sentenced by a federal judge. He received 51 months in prison and five years of supervised release.
