Easter day shooting leaves one man dead, NOPD investigates

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide that left a 31-year-old man dead in what has turned out to be a violent Easter weekend.

The fatal shooting happened shortly before 7:30 P.M. on Easter Sunday in the 2600 block of Allen Street.


According to investigators, NOPD officers responded to a call of an Aggravated Battery by Shooting. When officers arrived they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body. EMS transported the man to the hospital where he later died.

This was another act of violence to happen over what has become a very violent Easter weekend.

On Saturday, two people were shot. One was shot on North Claiborne Avenue, and the other shot on Toledano Street.

Then, on Sunday, someone was shot in the area of Old Spanish Trail near Slidell, and three people were shot in the 1500 block of North Claiborne Avenue in New Orleans.
