Entergy is offering $1 million in bill payment assistance to residential customers to help with high utility costs caused by the historic heat.
Vice President of Customer Service Michelle Bourg says customers must have a total household income of up to 250 percent of the federal poverty level. That is about $75.000 for a family of four.
“Qualifying customers will receive a one-time $200 dollar bill credit,” said Bourg.
Bourg says that $100,000 of the available money will go toward helping older adults and customers with disabilities.
Bourg says funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
“We do encourage all of our customers across the state of Louisiana to apply as soon as possible,” she said. “Once the funds are exhausted we won’t have additional funds to distribute.”
Applications will be reviewed, approved, and denied by United Way agencies. Bourg says notice of acceptance will be sent by email.
“I don’t think the process should take too too long. I would say give it a week or so,” said Bourg.
Customers can apply through the United Way website starting Friday at noon.
Applications open Friday
