Around 8:30 this morning a car crashed into a barrier where South Claiborne splits with an offramp leading to Poydras and the Superdome.
The lone driver of the vehicle died at the scene.
He has yet to be identified.
According to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate, traffic camera footage shows the accident where the car plowed into the divider guardrail.
Law enforcement closed Claiborne at the bottom of the ramp and diverted traffic onto Earhart Boulevard until the roadway reopened just before 10am.
