Faubourg Brewing, the beer company formerly known as Dixie that New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson resurrected after a long, Hurricane Katrina-induced absence, is shutting down beer-making operations at its New Orleans East brewery, WWL-TV and NOLA.com report.

The move comes about 18 months after Gayle Benson sold a majority stake in Faubourg to Alabama-based brewer Made by the Water.

In a statement to WWL-TV, Made by the Water said they are not completely shutting down the Jourdan Road site.

"We intend to have MBTW corporate headquarters remain in New Orleans at the Jourdan Road facility where our administrative, sales, marketing and finance teams are located. We also intend to have the taproom and event spaces remain open," said MBTW CEO Alexi Sekmakas.

Sekmakas said the Jourdan Road brewery "cannot meet the current demands of our family of breweries."

He went on to say that they wanted to expand Jourdan Road, but found it was not feasible.

"We are shifting most of our brewing operations to other MBTW facilities and contract brewing partners while we explore options for a new manufacturing home in the area," he said.
