The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating the discovery of a dead woman in the Tangipahoa river near Hwy. 40.
The sheriff's office says a fisherman made the macabre discovery around 1:30 Saturday afternoon.
"At this time, it is believed the woman was a transient from out-of-state living out of her car which was found parked along the highway," according to a statement from sheriff's office spokesperson Ashley Rodrigue. "Official identification and cause of death are pending with the Coroner's Office."
