Florida issues $3.5 million fine to county for requiring vaccines

The Florida Department of Health is flexing its muscle in support of a controversial new state law that bans COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

On Tuesday, the FDOH handed down a $3.5 million fine to Leon County after 14 workers were fired for not getting vaccinated.

The state law explicitly prohibits COVID-19 vaccine requirements by both businesses and governments and carries a $5,000 fine per offense.

The law is however being challenged in court, and it falls in direct contrast with an executive order issued at the federal level by President Joe Biden.
