Former Sewerage & Water Board employee facing federal charge

SWB
Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans

A former employee of the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board has been formally charged with stealing cash that belonged to the utility.

Federal prosecutors filed a bill of information against James Arnold, a former utility services administrator for the Sewerage and Water Board. That bill of information charges Arnold with theft from an agency receiving federal funds.

According to the bill of information, Arnold instructed plumbers to give him payments for plumbing permits and that Arnold would keep those payments for his own personal use. Prosecutors say the FBI is investigating the case.

If convicted, Arnold would face a 10-year prison sentence followed by three years of supervised release and up to $250,000 in fines.
