Kenner officials had to close off the 1000 block of Minden Ave. and evacuate area residents after a vehicle struck a gas meter, causing a major gas leak.
There were no reported injuries, and authorities said they ordered the evacuation in an abundance of caution.
Utility crews repaired the damage and residents were allowed to return this morning.
