A would-be good Samaritan learned the hard way that good deeds don’t go unpunished after he was shot in Terrebonne Parish.
Sheriff’s deputies say that shooting happened just before 4 p.m. Friday at the Sam’s Club store in Houma.
According to a sheriff’s office spokesman, the good Samaritan was trying to stop a purse snatching when the suspect shot the him. The suspect then ran away from the scene. The suspect was later arrested and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Jail. Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s name.
The good Samaritan remains in the hospital. Deputies say his condition is stable. Deputies did not say if the woman whose purse was the suspect’s initial target was injured.
