Hammond man says stranger punched and robbed him outside his home

Cops are looking for a man they say attacked a Hammond resident outside a home.

"The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is asking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect," authorities said in a news release.


It happened Tuesday at approximately 3:45pm.

"The subject pictured approached the victim while he was standing outside of his residence on Northwood Crossing Drive in Hammond. The subject told the victim he needed help, and thereafter pushed the victim back inside of his residence while punching him in the face. The subject demand money, and the victim surrendered an unknown amount of cash to the suspect."

Investigators say the suspect grabbed the victim's cell phone from his hand as he ran away.

"The suspect then left in what is possibly a gold colored sedan."
