A spilled drink at a Metairie bar leads to a man biting off part of a New Orleans man’s nose.
Authorities in Jefferson Parish say 34-year-old Bryan Thayer and a friend went to the City Bar on Veteran’s Boulevard on May 8 for a few drinks after work.
As The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate reports, Thayer and his friend bought a drink for another man, 32-year-old Andrew Nierman from Harvey, who was also at the bar.
The drink somehow spilled on Nierman’s clothes. Thayer told authorities he bought the man another drink and diffused the situation. After walking away with the drink, Nierman allegedly returned to Thayer and threatened him, grabbed Thayer’s head, and bit off a chunk of Thayer’s nose.

Bleeding from his partially severed nose, Thayer exited the bar with witnesses who flagged down a nearby Sheriff’s Deputy.
Thayer pointed out Neirman to the deputy as he drove away. The deputy stopped Nierman and, according to the paper, Nierman told the deputy Thayer approached him aggressively so he bit off his nose.
Nierman was arrested and booked with second-degree battery. A GoFundme account is set up to help pay for Thayer’s surgery to reattach his nose. Thayer is trying to raise $50,000 for the surgery.
