The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office says a shoplifting case turned into a vehicle chase across the Mississippi River.
Sheriff's officials say deputies went into a business in the 3700 block of Veterans Memorial Boulevard on a shoplifting call. There, they detained a female, and another female fled in a vehicle.
The sheriff's office says the fleeing woman rammed two sheriff's office vehicles in the process. The pursuit took deputies across the Crescent City Connection to the Westbank, ending near West Jefferson High School in Harvey.
The female suspect who fled was arrested. The woman detained at the scene in Metairie was released without charges.
No injuries were reported.
