A man is missing from a New Orleans based cruise ship. Efforts to locate the cruiser from Houma have not been successful.
"We are holding on to hope and prayer that he will be found safe," Tyler Lee Barnett's grandmother posted to social media. "Our hearts are breaking. I can't believe this is happening."
Barnett was last see on board the Carnival Cruise Ship Glory.
"Coast Guard watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report of an unaccounted 28 year old male passenger from the cruise ship Carnival Glory," the USCG posted. "After the crew of the Carnival Glory searched and could not locate the missing passenger aboard the ship, the Coast Guard launched two aircraft which conducted searches into Monday evening."
Dirlean Tate Mason said, "Please pray for our family."
The US Coast Guard searched the water in the area where Barnett could have gone overboard Monday. After about eight hours, the search was halted when darkness and rough weather set in.
Authorities say they have not received any specific information about Barnett falling off or being thrown off the ship, but say he was reported missing from the ship in the Gulf of Mexico.
