Headed to the airport? According to the Transportation Security Administration, today will be the busiest day for air travel so far this year in the U.S.
TSA said this past Sunday, agents screened more travelers than ever before in a single day.
Armstrong New Orleans International Airport will be super-busy today, too.
"We're expecting 23,700," said Erin Burns with the international airport. That's short of the record set this past April of 27,972; but it will be busy, to be sure.
"This is up from last year, over about 1,400 seats," she said. "We can expect some pretty busy crowds."
She says peak times for passenger traffic at security is from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m., and then from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
"This is going to be a busy weekend and next weekend is probably going to be even busier," she said. "So we always, always encourage passengers to arrive at least two hours ahead of their scheduled departure."
Burns said parking garages will likely be full, so if you haven't reserved a parking spot, better call a cab or rideshare.
