District Attorney Jason Williams found himself on the other side of a violent crime Monday night. How will his car-jacking impact the D.A.'s office going forward?

Rafael Goyeneche, President of the New Orleans Metro Crime Commission, says that Monday night's incident involving the D.A. and his mother should not impact how he prosecutes.

“It should not. Now I say that because lady justice is supposed to be blind.”

Goyeneche also submits that the D.A. has evolved in his role as a prosecutor. Jason Williams ran on a platform that promised no child would be tried as an adult and that he would consider no bail for some offenders.

He has since had to make tough decisions that contradicted those promises

“It’s life changing to sit behind the desk of the D.A.’s office and look victims and witnesses in the eye,” says Goyeneche.

Since the incident, Williams sat down with WWL-TV’s Mike Perlstein and he expressed relief that he and his mother are safe and that they will continue on a path of healing.
