It’s another sign of a return of New Orleans favorite pies are making a comeback.
The company that make Hubig’s Pies is putting up the ‘Help Wanted’ sign: https://opportunities.ledfaststart.com/hubigspies
Hubig’s webpage shows a posting for production worker and delivery driver and looking to fill about a dozen production jobs as the company ramps up for production to get underway.
The posting of the open positions has set off a flurry of anticipation that the return of the baked sweet treat is on the horizon.
Company owner Drew Ramsey has been tight lipped about when exactly the machines will roll, the ovens will bake, and the pies start cranking out.
The company is still working the details with Food and Drug Administration, waiting for approval and getting needed inspections of the production facility in Jefferson Parish to get green-lighted.
Ramsey has told the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate his love for Hubig’s amounts to more than just restarting the machinery and grinding out product, but recreating the tasty treat that people will “recognize and remember and enjoy.”
Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission President/CEO Jerry Bologna echoes Ramsey's statement that Hubig's is working to ensure the quality of the new pies. According to Bologna, Hubig's wants the new pies to taste the same as the old pies.
"They know that the Hubig's Pies conjures up a lot of great memories of New Orleans, and they want to take great care to protect that legacy," Bologna told WWL. "They're focusing on that production operation. They have been working on establishing all of their delivery routes and distribution routes.
"They are totally committed to quality, and they're totally committed to their product. Our conversations have centered around what we can do to make that process of startup easier."
