Happy first day of May! The weather should be great this weekend once this rain pushes through, and you better enjoy it, because pretty soon, summer weather is all we're going to get for the next several months.
"This could very well be it," said LSU Health Climatologist Berry Keim.
Highs this weekend will be in the 70s with lows in the 40s and 50s across Southeast Louisiana.
Keim says this is the time of year when the fronts stop coming this far south.
"Late April, and the first couple of weeks of May where we get the last gasps of these frontal systems that make it this far down," he said. "Those fronts start lifting more towards the north. Those fronts don't penetrate this far south."
Meaning this may be the last time you experience weather like this for several more months.
"We got four months, five months, maybe six months of summer in front of us," said Keim.
