Fourth time's the charm: Jazz Fest producer on the struggle to make it happen

It was no easy feat to bring Jazz Fest back to life says festival producer Quint Davis.

On Thursday, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival organizers announced their lineup after four attempts to make the music festival happen amid pandemic restrictions.

“I’ve put this festival together four times now,” Davis laughingly told WWL’s Tommy Tucker. “We had it in April of 2020, and then the pandemic was coming on...we moved it to October, then that couldn’t happen...so we were set up for this April...then that couldn’t happen...so we moved it to October again...and now everything is developed so it can happen.”

Davis says it could not happen without help from the New Orleans Fair Grounds.

“They said, ‘whatever it takes’ we are having Jazz Fest,” said Davis. “It could have cost them some money. The Louisiana State Racing Commission...they got behind it. I mean, a lot of people had to go out of their way to work and make this happen.”
