A jury in Jefferson Parish found 54-year-old Elias Abrego Zambrano guilty in the sexual abuse of two children.
According to prosecutors, the crimes began as early as 2012, and continued as late as 2017.
The crimes were reported to Kenner Police in 2020 when the victims were ages 13 and 19.
Zambrano was a family friend of the victims.
The jury convicted Zambrano on charges of first-degree rape of a juvenile under age 13, two counts of sexual battery of a juvenile under age 13 and two counts of indecent behavior with juveniles under age 13.
Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach scheduled a sentencing date of October 26.
First-degree rape carries a mandatory life sentence without the chance of parole.
