
A sophomore Jena High School student suffered a cardiac arrest on campus and passed away Tuesday.
Kameron Shelton went into cardiac arrest around 11 a.m. Life-saving attempts were made by school faculty, and Shelton was brought to LaSalle General Hospital.
Doctors on staff at the facility pronounced him dead. An autopsy will be performed by the LaSalle Parish Coroner’s Office.
Jena Police Chief Scott McLendon confirmed the events to The Jena Times.
Jena High School announced via social media that LEAP testing has been postponed until next week.
