It took only minutes for jurors to agree that the woman who killed six-year-old Bella Fontenelle in Harahan should go to prison, not a mental institution.
The Jefferson Parish jury took less than an hour to convict Bunnak “Hannah” Landon of first degree murder.
Since the D.A. did not seek the death penalty, the sentence will be life in prison.
The judge will formally sentence Landon on May 6th.
She sought to convince jurors she was legally insane at the time she beat her boyfriend's daughter to death, crammed her body in a bucket and left it on Fontenelle's mother's front lawn two years ago.
