Got any plans for the weekend? New Orleans is getting ready for a big Labor Day celebration the likes of which haven't been seen around here since 2019.
The holiday weekend will have quite a few visitors in town
"We're going to be up in the 90s for Saturday night, 90 percent-plus occupancy, and Sunday's going to be close to 90 percent," said Mark Romig, Chief Marketing Officer for New Orleans and Company.
Romig says that is's around what it was in 2019, before the pandemic. For the first time since then, Southern Decadence returns. The pandemic in 2020, then the aftermath of Hurricane Ida in 2021, kept the annual gay pride festivities from happening.
And new this year for New Orleans: a college football kickoff game this year gets in on the college kickoff classic action, with the Superdome hosting LSU and Florida State.
"The Florida State-LSU game on Sunday is causing us to have a really good solid Sunday night in New Orleans with hotel occupancy," said Romig.
