The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Deputy assigned to city council president Helena Moreno -- until he was accused of stalking New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell -- has been cleared of that accusation, and reinstated. Moreno said last week that it smacked of political retaliation from the mayor's office for her criticism of LaToya Cantrell. The mayor's office denies it was involved.
Laura Gentle was working an AmeriCorps Vista leadership job attached to the mayor's office. She told WWL's Newell Normand she was struck by unprofessionalism in the city's executive branch.
"The general culture and lack of leadership from Mayor Cantrell has really polluted the mayor's office," she said.

Gentle says that includes one remark from an official in the mayor's office that she didn't think was funny.
"What I heard was a senior staff member during my time there in the office make the remark that Chief (Shaun) Ferguson should shoot Council President Moreno," Gentle said.
Gentle said no one was held accountable, and there seems to be an overall culture of lack of accountability.
