A man and woman from LaPlace face charges in the death of a one-year-old child.
The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's office says Deputies arrested Renard Robinson and Keaura Dillon Monday. Robinson was booked for second degree murder, Dillon was booked on being an accessory to second degree murder.
The sheriff's office says they were called Sunday to a home in the 500 block of Revere Drive in LaPlace because the one-year-old child wasn't breathing.
"Upon arrival, officers located a 1-year-old female unresponsive in a bed," the sheriff's office said. "Shortly after, emergency medical services detected no vital signs. The coroner pronounced her dead on the scene."
An autopsy showed the cause of death as blunt force trauma.
"During an interview with detectives, Robinson admitted to harming the infant that caused her to lose consciousness, leading to her death," said officials. "Robinson also told detectives that he had informed Dillon of what occurred to the child prior to them speaking to detectives."
