Spring weather is upon us and Louisiana Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain says this is the time for residents of the state to enjoy our region’s natural bounty. “You can get Louisiana strawberries for a 16 oz per clamshell. You can also get them for about $30 per flat and they’re great to pair with these Louisiana crawfish,” emphasizes Strain.
Crawfish prices are lower lately and weather conditions should be favorable going forward to keep them that way. “My friends in the crawfish industry are really pleased right now, and it’s going really well in terms of the harvest. I don’t think we’re going to see any terribly cold weather going forward,” Strain goes on to say.
This warmer weather means it’s strawberry season in Louisiana as well and Strain says they’re ripe and ready to pair with your favorite seafood. “You can get those local strawberries for about $30 a flat or $4.99 for a clamshell of them, and they’re great to pair up with some of these crawfish,” he adds.
