Louisiana State Police Troop C began investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash on U.S. Highway 90 near Fonseca Lane around 11:00am on Friday. The crash claimed the life of 38-year-old Lauren Womack of Lafayette.
Early investigation revealed that Womack was driving a 2015 Honda Odyssey east on U.S. Hwy 90. At the same time, a 2024 Honda CR-V was traveling west.
For reasons still under investigation, the Odyssey traveled off the roadway to the left, crossed the grass median, and struck the CR-V head-on in the westbound lanes.
Womack, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the CR-V, who was belted, sustained serious injuries and was transported to an out-of-area hospital for medical treatment.
Standard toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
