The National Hurricane Center now expects Hurricane Isaias to become a Category Three storm in the Gulf.
"Additional strengthening is expected through early Friday, and Isaias should remain a dangerous hurricane as it approaches the northern Gulf Coast Friday night," the NHC posted.
The forecast calls for a landfall near the Alabama / Florida state line.
WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone says that will mean limited impacts for Louisiana.
"The storm is expected to turn northeast and then north before reaching the northern Gulf Coast late Friday or early Saturday."
He says the weather in the New Orleans area will be nice, with a high of 81 Friday and windy conditions.
Folks along the Louisiana coast and the lakes could see tides about three to five feet above normal.
There is a coastal flood advisory.
Saturday, Malone forecasts clearing though the day, less humid and a high of just 79 for New Orleans.
