Two people are dead, including a pedestrian, after separate crashes in Tangipahoa Parish.
The first happened around 6 p.m. Friday on LA 442 near Duhe Road. State troopers say Jonathan Schroeder, 34, Independence, ran his car off the road and hit several trees. Schroeder later died at a hospital. According to investigators, Schroeder was not wearing a seatbelt.
The second crash happened around 11 p.m. on Interstate 55 near the West University Avenue exit in Hammond. State troopers say William Traylor walked into the northbound right lane of I-55 and was hit by an SUV. Traylor died at the scene.
Both crashes remain under investigation.
