A home designed by a noted Ghanian-British architect David Adjaye, and built by a non-profit foundation started by actor Brad Pitt, is coming down.
The home at 1826 Reynes Street in the Lower Ninth Ward is nestled among a number of architecturally stunning, but poorly built homes the movie star looked to construct for people who lost their homes.
According to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate the empty property has a sagging roof and mold, and wood in the structure is rotting.
The property is among 109 homes built at a price of $26-million dollars.
To this day many of the homes are abandoned and at least one other home has already been torn down.
The roof covering the top floor open air patio is sagging and in danger of collapsing onto the top of the home, endangering the entire structure.
Make It Right Foundation is still tied up at least two court cases over the shoddy state of the homes as they’ve aged.
But this one will meet its end very soon, at a cost of $7,085 to the owner.
