Man arrested after he “brutally attacked” and robbed two people in Marigny says NOPD

New Orleans Police say they have arrested 37-year-old William Lewis for allegedly beating a person with a blunt object during a robbery in the French Quarter on Friday.

Police say the investigation led them to Lewis who they say brutally attacked and robbed a victim on March 25, at the intersection of Burgundy and Barracks Streets.

According to investigators, the victim was struck in the head several times with a blunt object and robbed of his wallet. The victim sustained traumatic head injuries as a result of the attack.

Lewis was arrested Saturday for the alleged beating. Subsequently, Lewis was positively identified as the person responsible for a robbery that occurred on March 21, in the 1000 block of Touro Street. In this incident, Lewis was arrested for Second-Degree Robbery.

During both incidents, the victims were brutally attacked by Lewis and hospitalized as a result of their injuries.

Lewis was charged with one count of armed robbery, second-degree robbery, attempted murder, and obstruction.
